35 years of Davies Guitar building heritage

As a professional luthier I’m a designer, craftsman and musician. However, over and above these disciplines I’m an artist, as for me art overarches all else, directing each design and build sonically, scientifically and aesthetically.

As a luthier I am often asked about the artists, players and teachers I’ve been blessed to have worked with, and a good few names spring to mind across many genres of music – Gareth Davies-Jones, Paul Oakley, Al Stewart and Geoff Twigg - the founding editor of Guitarist Magazine, to name a few.

There have been many special moments for sure. However, meeting the late John Renbourn was a special stand-out connection that led to us working together on the designs and specifications for me to build him a Davies OM and a Davies R-Type Jumbo Cutaway Seven-String. I am so grateful to John for his friendship and for championing my work for over a decade prior to his passing in 2015. His memory lives on through the music of his exceptional career. I am so delighted that I have recently been able to buy back his Davies OM that I built for him, for me to enjoy as well as for prospective customers to play and experience.
